Hazardous Materials – Medical Facility
For the last several years, Hillmann Consulting, LLC has conducted asbestos surveys of various renovation areas within a major medical facility complex in New York State. Bulk samples were collected in areas that were scheduled to be renovated or that were considered for renovation to determine if any asbestos containing materials may be present. The samples were collected by a NY licensed Asbestos Inspector in accordance with all applicable regulations. All air monitoring, air sample analysis, and final clearance inspections were conducted by a NY licensed Project Monitor.
In emergency response to a water intrusion event, Hillmann Consulting, LLC provided an on-site asbestos project monitor/asbestos inspector, and an Industrial Hygienist to assist with water intrusion. Our team recommended appropriate remediation contractors for each affected area and provided test results and recommendations. To accomplish the work, our staff used high and low flow calibrated pumps, air-o-cell cassettes, protimeter moisture meter, tape lift sampling, and a boroscope to determine fibers in air, spores in air, and spores on medical records. All work was completed according to NY State ICR 56, NYC Guidelines “Assessment and Remediation of Fungi in Indoor Environments”, and EPA and IIRC Guidelines. Our team worked alongside the remediation contractors, document reprocessors, building engineers, Chief Medical Officer, and Hospital Administrator in the successful completion of this project. Our team was able to rapidly response to this emergency, providing a comprehensive scope of work for the contractors and assisting the hospital with protecting the sensitive information contained in potentially contaminated medical files.
