Respiratory Protection Programs
Hillmann Consulting, LLC has the ability to customize a Respiratory Protection Program for your staff. We can design a program based on your occupational needs, train your staff, and assist you with implementing the program.
OSHA Standard 1910.134 requires employees who are required to wear respirators to receive training on the proper use of that respirator. Employees must be able to demonstrate knowledge of why the respirator is necessary, the consequences of a poor respirator to face seal or respirator malfunction, the limitations and capability of the respirator, how to use the respirator in emergency situations, inspection procedures, donning and doffing procedures, how to maintain and store the respirator, and how to recognize the medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of the respirator.
Hillmann Consulting, LLC can perform either qualitative or quantitative fit testing dependent on our client’s individual needs. Quantitative fit tests are performed using a TSI PortaCount. This instrument quantitatively measures an employee’s individual fit factor. The employee will be challenged via performing several exercises to simulate field conditions. The results will be explained to the employee and documentation provided to both the employer and employee. We also offer qualitative fit tests with several challenge agents. Those challenge agents include, saccharin, isoamyl acetate or irritant smoke. The employee will be challenged via performing several exercises to simulate field conditions.
